This report explores the critical links between ending violence against women and girls (VAWG) and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). VAWG is one of the most pervasive human rights violations globally, affecting one in three women, and is both a cause and consequence of gender inequality.
Despite global commitments, the world is not on track to achieve gender equality by 2030, and without addressing violence, progress across all SDGs will stall. The report highlights the urgent need for greater investment in prevention, showing both the enormous social and economic costs of violence and the transformative benefits of ending it.
It also underscores the leadership of women’s organisations and feminist movements, whose work is central to driving lasting change. By making violence prevention a global priority, we can accelerate progress towards a more just, equal, and sustainable future for all.
